It is a Grade Y high efficiency oil removal coalescing element and strips the fine oil aerosol and water carryover a general purpose stage leaves behind, rated at 1 µm. In service it sits directly downstream of a Grade X stage. Air leaving this stage is clean enough for instrument work and for a carbon tower to polish.
