It is a Grade HC hopcalite element and converts carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide across a catalytic bed. It sits in a breathing air train, downstream of the coalescing and carbon stages. Carbon monoxide is the one contaminant a breathing air train cannot afford to pass. Dimensions follow the original, so it installs into the existing housing without modification.
